SHAUN Murphy beat Mark Joyce in the Welsh Open this afternoon to set up a last 16-clash with his one-time hero Steve Davis.
The Magician took a while to get into his stride and indeed an upset looked on the cards in Newport as Joyce took a 2-0 lead.
But Shaun found some fluency with a 65 to make 2-1 and that break was one of four half-centuries that saw him roar back to triumph 4-2.
Back-to-back 71s followed by a run of 89 in the sixth frame saw him through. Murphy really found his potting touch in the last couple of frames, knocking in some really testing balls to prove that his game is in good order ahead of the upcoming Davis test.
Its going to be an great match you and mr davis goodluck on wendesday shaun.
