Well, what a difference a year makes. This time last year I was pretty low even though I’d made a 147 maximum break at the Championship League in Essex a few weeks before. I’d lost in the Masters semi-final to my friend Mark Selby and didn’t really know what was going to happen with my snooker career. I went to Gdynia for the Euro Tour event just in the hope of finding some form and ended up having three great days. I played well to make the last 16 and then against Jamie Jones, my conqueror last week, I made another 147. That made me think that I must be doing something right and as it happens I went on to win the event.
It felt so good to get back in the winner's enclosure, something I’d missed for a fair few years and at some low points following the Masters loss in 2014 had wondered if I’d ever achieve again. This win though spurred me on and in the last 12 months I’ve won five tournaments and made three 147’s in all. Each very special its own right and I’ll remember this past year for the rest of my life.
So I can’t wait to go back to Gdynia this weekend and see some friendly faces there. I had some great support there last year and I hope that we can all put on a good show for the fans there. This year there is also a trophy on offer for the player that finishes top of the Kreativ Dental order of merit. As it stands I’ve got every chance of winning that but I’m not getting ahead of myself. I’m just going to go and try my best on every shot I play and see where that takes me.
As I’ve mentioned on Twitter, filming for my new youtube channel has now started and I’m still open to suggestions on what you’d like to see. After all, I only want to put things on there that you might be interested in. So there’s still time to get your ideas in, and who knows they could be online soon.
All the best to you all and I’ll be back after the Gdynia Open.
